Horse Racing Today

Horse racing is one of the oldest sports known today. It was once played by the Greeks during their Olympics and it was one of the passions of the Romans, especially the chariot races. In England, it has become known to be The Sport of Kings. Today, horse racing is still the passion of many. It is considered to be one of the most famous sports across the globe. The horse racing system is generally the same although there are variations on how the sport was played in different countries.

There are also different forms of horse racing. The most famous is the thoroughbred racing. Another one famous horse racing type is the harness racing, which is more popular in some parts of the US than the Thoroughbred racing. Then is also the quarter horse racing, which is popular in the western parts of the Untied States, such as in Florida. One of the most important aspects of horse racing is the breeding of the horses. The breed of the horse generally affects the horse racing results and the most common horse racing tip is the lineage of the horse. Other important horse racing tips are about the training of the horse and the care given to the horse.

The most famous type of horse racing is the thoroughbred horse racing. The thoroughbred horse racing has two forms: flat racing and jump racing, which is again subdivided into hurdling and steeplechase. Harness racing, on the other hand is when the horse compete in specified gait. The horses pull carts which are called sulkies. The Quarter horse race is sprinting on short distances, hence the name quarter, from quarter mile. This is more popular in the United States and American breed horses are used in this race. They are well suited because of their agility and speed. The Quarter horse race is usually held at rodeos, horse shows and ranch shows. The American Quarter horse race is done to showcase, not just the speed of the horse, but also the skill of the racer in ranch and farm activities. The American Quarter Horse Association registers more than 5 million quarter horses internationally.
