Choosing Voice T-1 For Your Corporation

One of the most important aspects of business is what you use to communicate. Digital signals are more stable and clearer than analog signals and a t1 connection gives you a high-speed digital connection that can have a significant number of advantages for your business. A T1 is a digital high-speed circuit designed specifically for business telephony solutions. There are many advantages to using a voice T1 for your company. Consider these advantages when choosing voice T1 service.

How a T1 Works

t-1 connections consist of 24 flexible channels that are available to anyone. The channels can be used for both incoming and outgoing communication allowing you to be able to increase your ability to accept incoming phone calls. Outgoing calls are just moved to the next available channel. This creates a more effective use of the line capabilities.

One advantage to a t-1 connections is DID or direct in dial, which allows employees their own phone number while maintaining a single T1 connection. This keeps you from having to purchase and install extension lines, a server to manage it and various software applications.

The Cost of t-1 connections

The cost is only small and since T1’s can be used for both incoming and outgoing, you need few lines in order to handle the same amount of calls. This provides customers with a way to reach employees directly and you do not have to have as many circuits to handle the same amount of traffic. In addition, the cost has dropped significantly over recent years making a T1 connection highly affordable.

The number of lines you need for proper service using a t-1 connections is dependent upon the number of employees and the volume of traffic. On average, however you should have one t1 line for every 50 employees if you are busy and up to 100 if you do not have as much traffic.

If you are unsure, as to what level of activity you currently have consult with your phone company. There are usage reports available that can assist you in determining the amount of usage your phone system receives. You may also want to consult with an engineer who specializes in phone or t1 line service. An engineer will be able to tell you how much load is on your current system and what that translates when it comes to T1 lines.

Speed, Service and Reliability

Speed is also something that a t-1 line gives you that regular phone service does not the connection is over 1.5 mbs that means you can have a phone conversation as if you are sitting right across from them. The connection provides a clear, crisp signal. T1 lines use fiber optic cables in order to maintain signal stability and clarity. The signal is even designed to come in to a smart jack, which makes routing easy. The t1 line is incredibly reliable and any issues can usually be resolved through remote testing making it faster to diagnose and solve a problem. Standard service however does include the use of a technician during business hours.

There may be additional contracts available for businesses that run on an alternate schedule. While problems are rare they do occur, you may wish to have a backup system in place in order to service your customers during down times.
