Intense Building Codes Arguement
I’m an ex-firefighter and recently got into an argument with a friend over building codes. For example, commercial construction codes are updated every year. If you have an older building not up to snuff it gets grandfathered in with the old codes. But if you renovate it you have to renovate it to the newest standards. He felt this was really stifling. But I said, hey look at china and their school buildings. We don’t have to have a lot of people die in an earthquake or stuff like that, if we just use some common sense and build our buildings as safe as possible.
