A Little Disaster Recovery And Data Backup Services Never Hurt Anyone

For some time I have been searching for a variety of Data storage, I’ve kind of caught the “if it has wires, I don’t want it” bug. Sure there are hundreds of different types of things I could buy to put my precious files on, USB flash drives, the occasional FireWire drive, I could even use a Compact Flash card – the possibilities are endless. I suppose the closest two are the actual drives but that requires taking things out of my pocket, or bag, or whatever. What I really need is some kind of Online Data Backup. I found several different kind of things by Googleing, some places looked great while some of the others I’d never think of paying to store anything for me personal documents or my Cheet-Os. It seems like some of the Internet companies that have websites out there are just trying to drive customers away with their cheesy websites and the insufficiency of information on their internet portal of industrial independence . Another thing that bothered me about some of these so-called companies was the fact that they used popular companies logos, where is the creativity people?! . I’ve narrowed it down between two different ideas: using Apple’s Mac service – which I’m honestly kind of skeptical of because of how much it cost 100 bucks a year, that’s insane – or getting a domain name and a host with a large amount of storage.
We called Ted ‘Mister Data Storage’ back in college. You think I am kidding. I am not . We loved the guy, but he was weird, really, really weird. Mister Data Backup Services would seriously dress like a nerd, pocket protector and all, always with a white lab coat on, we’re not sure why he wore that though because he hated chemistry and science . And hanging out of all of these pockets? You guessed it, my man. Data storage devices! CD’s, discs, computer memory cards, IBM ports, wires, sockets, and even old Playstation memory cards. None of us ever questioned him carrying them around with him, and eventually it became his staple . What was great about him was that if you’re computer ever crashed or you were in the library without a disc to record whatever it is you were working on, he would be there in an instant with whatever help you needed or whatever item you needed to get your task done correctly and on time . He was definitely a different guy, but looking back he was the glue that held our college together . He had a way of carrying himself at a higher standard than everyone else, but it honestly came as a shock when he died of a heart attack . It was odd because the kid was not overweight or out drinking and eating fast food all the time . He was probably the most in shape person I knew in college because he was always running around campus trying to help everyone with their computer issues . He was only 22 and it was a month after graduation where he took a shower and it hit him. I miss him to this day .
I now live in Louisiana, of course I moved there right before Katrina came and demolished everything, but my friend ended up capitalizing on the tragedy and started up a new company . It is a Data Recovery business, it is a great way to do business since it is not your customer that is paying you but their insurance company so you are pretty much guaranteed payment. If someone ends up with the basement overflowing after some torrential rains, or they have substantial roof damage after some tornado hits town, or if a pipe freezes and explodes all over then their insurance will cover restoration. My friends business is growing very nicely.
