Dry Erase Board
I have to have a dry erase board in my house. There is just no way around it. I am very forgetful and I am very bad about using an appointment calendar or book. I’ve tried, and no matter what I do, and haven’t found anything that works as well for me as the board. If I have it somewhere where I can’t help but look at it, I tend to do a better job about writing down deadlines and important events, and I also have a greater chance of remembering them.
I don’t know why I have such a problem, but I have found the dry erase board to indeed be a blessing. My newest one has a calendar preprinted on it, and it is perfect to write down when my articles are due and also when I have to interview someone. I also find that I don’t miss any special events, or have to run out at the last minute when someone reminds me of something I had put off. I am a mess, but the dry erase board takes some of the stress out of my life.
I’m still not perfect, but the dry erase board has helped, and even my husband has noticed the difference. I am no longer running out at the last minute for birthday gifts, and I rarely miss my deadlines. The dry erase board is also where I put down doctors appointments and other things I need to remember for my daughter. As sad as it may sound, I have actually forgotten to take her in for appointments. It made me feel like a horrible mother. I know everyone forgets on occasion, but I was doing it all the time.
The dry erase board I have is not totally perfect. I can only have one month up at a time, but I can break it down so that I am always a month ahead. Once the beginning of the month is over, I can erase half of the dry erase board and add the beginning of the next month at the top. Though that might confuse someone looking at it for the first time, it works well for me. Don’t worry; I do know how to count, even if it doesn’t look like it. There is always a method to my madness, but at least now I can keep on top of it a little better than I used to.
