Chex Systems– What Is It?

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Chex Systems is a consumer reporting agency (kind of like Experian or Equifax), that focuses on your banking history. ChexSystems is owned by EFunds, Inc., and provides a bank account verification service used by financial institutions such as banks and credit unions. Deposit account verification is simply a tool, used within the banking industry, to aid in the application process of new accounts. Banks use Chex Systemsto identify any potential “problem” applicants (people who have mishandled their accounts in the past).

Chexsystems flags “problem” accounts (or “mishandled accounts”). In particular, they flag bad activity that may be a cause for a bank to close a deposit account. Here are some examples: excessive overdrafts over a short period, fraud, debts owed to a financial institution, or false information given on an application. Each bank has its own policies defining account mishandling and the bad acts that may justify closing your account (and reporting you to Chex Systems).

Chex Systems reports contain a bunch of different types of information that can be used for banks to decide whether they will open a new bank account for you. Here are some examples of the types of information in a ChexSystems consumer report:

* If the applicant has an account closure on file
* Whether outstanding debts have been paid
* Validation of applicant’s social security information
* Validation and verification of applicant’s drivers license information
* Banks owed money by applicant (usually due to overdraft fees, ATM transactions, or automatic payments that were honored on insufficient funds)
* Multiple overdrafts within a short period of time
* Savings account, debit card or ATM abuse
* If the applicant has checks outstanding on the SCAN database (SCAN is a service used by retailers that keeps track of bank accounts and identification numbers from checks that have bounced)
* How many accounts the consumer has applied for in the past 90 days
* History of checks ordered in the past 3 years

Here are a few “Frequently Asked Questions” about ChexSystems:

(1) Do ChexSystems consumer report contain any positive information?

No. Chex Systems only keeps track of (and reports) negative information about you. Your ChexSystems report will only show negative information. This is unlike other Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRA) who often report both positive and negative activity in a consumer’s history.

(2) What if ChexSystems does not have a report on me?

If you do not have a ChexSystems consumer report, that means you either have no deposit account history or you are in good standings with current or previously used financial institutions. It’s probably a good thing to not have a ChexSystems consumer report.

(3) How do I get a copy of my ChexSystems consumer report?

ChexSystems reports can be ordered by mail, phone or fax. If you have been denied an account in the last 60 days, it is possible to obtain a report online.

(4) How much does a copy of my ChexSystems consumer report cost?

Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACTA) amendments added to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you are entitled to a free copy of your report once every 12 months.

(5) How fast are ChexSystems reports delivered?
Banks can access ChexSystems reports instantaneously by internet or phone. Consumer initiated reports are mailed within 5 business days.

(6) Do Negative Items stay on My ChexSystems consumer report Forever?
No. Each item reported to ChexSystems is kept on file for 5 years.

(7) How do I get a negative item removed from ChexSystems?

Negative items can be removed by the bank or credit union who submitted it to ChexSystems.

If there was an error by the bank, which led to a negative item being submitted, you can have the negative item removed if the error is proven to the bank. Banks can also remove a negative item if an outstanding debt is paid; however, banks are not obligated to remove accurate reports of account mishandling due to debts owed to the institution. Banks are required to mark the account as paid, if a collection amount is paid back.

(8) Can I dispute a negative item with ChexSystems?
Yes. Disputes regarding a negative item can also be filed with ChexSystems. When a dispute is received by ChexSystems, they must respond back to you within 30-45 days, depending on how you obtained the report.

After receiving your dispute, ChexSystems must verify your claim with the financial institution that submitted the report. If the disputed information can not be verified by ChexSystems, the information must be deleted from your report.

(9) Can I add information to my ChexSystems file?
Yes. You may add a brief statement to your ChexSystems file. To add a statement to your file, the statement must be written and signed with a clear indication that you would like it added to your ChexSystems report.

Why Starting Your Own Outdoor Guiding Company Is A Great Business Move

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Have you ever thought of starting an adventure travel company but have been hesitant because it didn’t seem like a viable business? Some of you have thought of it and many of you haven’t. So allow me to reframe the question: have you ever thought of starting a business doing what you love, and have been reluctant because it didn’t seem like a viable business move? Outdoor adventure just happens to be my passion, but yours could be dancing, art, exercise, relationship, partying, or whatever. This article is about why your passion is the EXACT direction to move in, not the one to avoid, whether it’s in the wilderness guiding business or not!

Tour
I own a backpacking tour business. My business partners and I started it many years ago, and while national park tours were popular, it was a competitive market. Also, I had many objections running through my head that now seem absurd. “I will end up hating what I love because I’ll burn out on it,” “there’s no way I can actually make a great income doing what I love,” “I shouldn’t start a business when I don’t have any experience.” On and on and on…

Tour
The fact is that what ever your passion is – it’s what you LOVE TO DO. And successful people always love what they do. And let’s define what I mean by success – is success making a ton of money so you can look like the people in the magazines and movies, and feel terrible on the inside because you aren’t doing what you love? Or is success the business of absolutely loving life – of FEELING ALIVE? And making a lot of money while you’re at it? Because it’s totally possible to do both!

I feel most alive when I’m skiing, climbing, and hiking. When I’m doing these activies, there’s something that springs to life inside of me. You know that feeling when one of your favorite songs comes on the radio? When I’m in the mountains, it’s like I’m listening to all of my favorite songs for the first time all at once! What a feeling! With that sort of passion, you can’t fail – it’s impossible.

Hiking tour
If you don’t know what you love to do, then find out! Your time is running out, as is true for all of us. Go find a dream that God made just for you, and pursue it with everything you have. I’ve proven you can truly have it all, now you just have to prove it yourself.

Good remedie for an annoying tennisarm injury is available now

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Nevertheless, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with painful tennisarm. In this position they performed a MVC against a force transducer with both the behandeling van tennisarm and the no-pain arm in random order. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 2 months. Results are presented as mean. Indeed, there were no significant differences after 8 hours.

However, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the past 4 weeks.

Further, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. Therefore, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 6 years.

Indeed, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 9 days.

An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 403 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the first 5 minutes.

The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. The diameter of the contact area was 813 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 523 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. Painful tennisarm, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.

The inflammation of the unilateral tennisarm injury, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on four patients with unilateral annoying tennisarm. Next 8 minutes, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. Further, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 4 months in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 626 to 50. All PPT measurements were conducted 32 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. Nevertheless, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. For 4 years gain settings were standardized and kept constant.

Search Engine Advertising Sets Off Trademark Lawsuit

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

A legal complaint filed by NameSafe against LifeLock raised an interesting issue yesterday. Are trademarked names legally protected when it comes to online keyword advertising.

The lawsuitwas launched in Tennessee, where NameSafe is headquartered, and alleges various violations of Trademark Laws In a Namesafe press release CEO David Ridings said

“We have discovered that LifeLock has been sponsoring advertisements on most major search engines including (among others) Google, Yahoo, Lycos, MSN, Dogpile, and AOL, that deceptively led consumers to Lifelock.com. Specifically, when you searched ‘Namesafe.com’ in any major search engine, you found an advertisement that said ‘Namesafe.com’ but when you clicked on it, you were not directed to the official site for NAMESAFE (www.namesafe.com), but rather to our competitor, LifeLock.com.”

In an article on Namesafe, Identity Theft Labs, an identity theft protection company pointed out that it was very common for an identity theft protection company to be bidding on the trademarked keywords of competitors until recently when LifeLock requested that competitors refrain from bidding on their trademarked name.

In a article by CNET writer Stephen Shankland LifeLock denied NameSafe’s allegations.

“We have contacted our reseller network to remind them of the importance of compliance with LifeLock’s requirements. We have been informed that a non-compliant reseller purchased the term ‘NameSafe.’ The reseller has subsequently been terminated. LifeLock will not tolerate violations of our compliance guidelines from any independent reseller.”

Are competitors allowed to bid on your trademarked names. This is the real issue from a legal point of view and one that is still not clear.

Wait! Before You Start: Basement Finishing Tips

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Coming up with basement finishing ideas is the first step to making the most of the area in your home. Whether you are planning to finish your basement on your own or you want to hire a professional, you have to decide how you want to use the area before you can begin. There are many different aspects you need to consider when deciding on your basement refinishing ideas. Not only do you have to decide what you are going to use the area for, you also have to decide on the décor.

When finishing your basement you will have to be certain that there aren’t any moisture issues. Sealing the walls and floor so that you have no seepage before you put up your walls is important, if this step is left out you will not only have more work to repair the problems, but you will also have to spend a lot of money replacing the items that were destroyed as well as beginning the project over.

One great basement finishing idea is to turn this area into an office or workspace. Basement offices are great for starting your own business or keeping up with your work at home. A basement library is also a great idea for a finished basement. If there is space where you can set up book shelves, install good lighting, and keep warm and quiet you have a perfect home library. Families with teens and preteens can use a library for a study and homework area.

Basements are also an ideal place for an entertainment room. When thinking of basement finishing ideas you need to look at costs. If you decide to make an entertainment room you not only have to look at the cost of building materials and the construction crew (if you hire professionals) but also the cost of the furniture for this new area. It is not very entertaining to have a big empty room. Keeping your basement finishing ideas within your budget is important.

As part of finishing the basement you will want to decide on the floor coverings. Carpeting is a good way to cover the floor in an attractive way while adding warmth and personality. If you decide to carpet the area you may want to double pad the carpet. Unlike the other levels in your home, the basement has a concrete floor. If you don’t add to the padding then standing on the basement floor for extended periods of time can result in back and leg pain.

During the planning period there are many things to think about. Keeping in mind what your budget is and what you want to use the space for will help you to be able to meet your goals. Once you have decided on the basement finishing ideas that you find appealing you can then begin with your basement remodeling plans.

Cell Phone Case And Ipod Case Get In The Way

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Taking out my garbage is seriously the worst task every . I never remember to do it until it is too late . But then when an cell phone case and all these wrappers and old cans are spilling out of the top of it, I have to do something. I actually eat a lot of fruit and vegetables . That includes bananas. After a few days banana peel start to smell like death left to rot for decades upon decades. If you don’t, I greatly envy you. Potassium is an essential part to your diet so you should definitely include at lest two bananas a day into your daily eating habits or else your body could shut down on you . Anyway, I always put off taking out my trash until I absolutely have to. I suppose its just laziness. I certainly don’t have any traumatic experiences in my past with taking out the trash that would make me reluctant to do so. In fact, I’ve never even heard of such a trauma and I work for a psychiatrist. After days of living with the smell of death I’ll take the bad down the steps to our community dumpster, but only after I can no longer take living with the smell . I throw it in and try to forget about it. But then I have to put a new bag into my garbage container and that will just fill up again. It always does.
