Mcse Certification For It Professionals

If you already hold an MCSE certification, from 2000 or earlier, there’s a tendency to view updating your certifications as a grind. Particularly if you already have a position – after all, your real world experience should trump having a piece of paper, right? And those exams are expensive to take.

It’s very easy to fall into the trap of “too much work today, do it tomorrow” when dealing with updating your certifications, and it’s a trap that should be avoided. Fortunately, Microsoft offers “update” exams for these mcsecertification – you take two new exams, and your certification is updated to the latest standard. This is a great bargain compared to spending $750 for a complete recertification series.

Even better, the exams you take are tailored for the things that have actually changed with the new certification process. Take the time to look them over – the skills you’re tested for could be the skills you need to solve a particularly thorny problem at work.

Even better, there are financial assistance programs available, and most employers with dedicated IT departments have actual budgets for examinations and certifications. Look into these and see what you can do to enhance your career.

Something you should avoid doing is “cramming for the exam” – it’s particularly tempting for the recertification and update exam cycle, because you think you already know most of the material covered. Take the time to do it right, crack the books and study hard. Examinations like this get you certifications that will help you in a job market that’s volatile.

Part of your professional development plan should be plenty of updates on your certifications, whether for MCSE, or Novell. These certifications are a shorthand way to get a job if you ever get laid off, and keeping them updated makes it easier to justify holding your existing job if your company has to downsize at all.

Plus, software development is ongoing – there will always be new features added, and you’ll need to keep on top of these skills and not let them stagnate to keep employed. So, update your MCSE regularly and keep apprised of new things in your field.
