Gather up all of your old candles and place all of them in one container, then place this container inside of another large container that has water in it and then place it on a fire. The water will boil and melt the wax nevertheless do not put the vessel containing the wax directly on the fire as this may prove to be hazardous. In a situation where you don’t have enough candles, purchase some new ones in bulk quantities so that you are able to keep the cost down and it will definitely be a whole lot cheaper than the store’s exorbitant prices.
Aluminum containers though hot to touch when wax is poured are the best. Old glasses and disposable paper cups can be used for simple tumbler-look varieties.
The wick can be made out of an old candle wick or out of white cotton straw. Make the wick taut by rubbing wax on it and then insert it into the melted wax in the mould. When you add the color to the wax, do it slowly as you keep mixing it so you can stop as soon as you get the color you want. Now pour the melted wax into the mould and insert the wick slowly so it goes down to the bottom.
Melt wax in various containers and add different colors to them if you would like to make candles with layers of multi colors. Make sure that the mould you choose for a multicolored candle is tall which allows the layers to show but the manner in which you pour the different colors is important. The colored wax must be poured into the container after the first layer has cooled off. You need to do this if you don’t want to end up with an awful colored candle.
Fragrance must be added after the color as the last step, as any additional stirring and heating can cause loss of fragrance.
Fragrances are widely available, ranging from floral like rose and jasmine to lemon grass, tea tree and musk. Put the mould in the freezer after you have added the color, fragrance and the wick so that the candle can be taken out easily.
