Pearly Penile Papules - Small Harmless Pimples That Can Cause Fear And Embarrassment

Pearly penile papules are small light colored raised spots often seen on the head of the penis in adult men, blacks especially, and those that are circumcised. These are harmless lesions but the issue with them is that they can often be mistaken for sexually transmitted conditions like genital warts.

Quite a few men who have pearly penile papules are fearful that there is something wrong with them but don’t talk about them because they are scared that they have an unpleasant disease. They are not aware that it is a routine natural condition. If you have something that looks like pearly penile papules and are worried about them, talk with your doctor just to make sure that this is what the bumps actually are. Your doctor will reassure you that the white bumps are nothing to be concerned about.

Once these papules turn up they can take up to four years to entirely form. Pearly penile papules are not genital warts, nor are they caused by a sexually transmitted disease and cannot be transferred as such. This is a popular misconception and these concerns can be put to ease. You cannot spread the papules to your sexual partner, but you should explain to your mate what they are and that they are in no way life-threatening.

There are herbal and home cures, as well as treatments for warts, that claim to treat the papules but none of these have been tested or proven to do so. Surgical methods are proven and are commonly used: see pearly penile papules to find out more. Studies have established that they will typically not go away on their own, but may decrease over time.
