Prepaid is definitely a great, and growing alternative. It’s interesting to hear people speak about prepaid as though it’s new. It’s been around for the better part of a decade, but is only now getting more attention. Primarily due to people’s frustration with contracts and unexpectedly high bills in a time where controlling expenses and managing credit scores is top of mind. Moreover, in the past couple of years the value of prepaid has increased tremendously, as have the options, which range from per minute, per day, monthly, and unlimited plans.

The other main reason they are becoming more popular is they have gotten much cheaper to buy and use. Three years ago Tracfone rates were 20 cents a minute at the cheapest and the least expensive Tracfone was $50 to buy. Now you can get a phone for $10 and minutes as cheap as 8 cents.
