Locations To Spot Appealing Maternity Jeans For Pregnant Ladies

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Every season it seems it’s time to purchase a new set of clothing. Certainly the very basics are always in demand, including pants, undergarments, shirts, and jackets. But women who are pregnant have specific clothing needs, especially for those who are tall.

Finding tall maternity jeans can be difficult at best. Already the clothing choices are limited to maternity wear, but when you’re dealing with a 34-inch inseam, it can be that much harder.

However, don’t lose hope - there are brands and stores out there that work. For a breakdown of some of the best clothing retailers for tall pregnant women, keep reading.

RG Maternity

If you need maternity jeans with a 36-inch inseam, then RG Maternity is the store for you. This popular retailer for tall women recently started a line of maternity clothes that are perfect for the taller woman. You can also visit their website online at rgmaternity.com.

The Gap Maternity Store

Over the last few years, the Gap has gotten much better at providing options for the taller woman. Recently, they started offering tall maternity jeans both on their website and in select Gap stores. These jeans go up to a 34-inch inseam, but you should expect them to shrink at least an inch, so avoid putting them in the dryer.

J.C. Penney

Believe it or not, but J.C. Penney actually has a fairly extensive selection of maternity clothing for taller women. They are designed for ladies over 5′9″ and offer longer rises and longer lengths (up to 36 inches in some styles). They’re also affordable, though not always super stylish.

You can order online, through their catalog or at an actual J.C. Penney store - though most custom-fit items are done through mail-order.

Trendy Mamma Tailors

For $20 + $8 in shipping and handling, Trendy Mamma will take your favorite pair of long, perfect jeans and turn them into pregnancy jeans by attaching a pregnancy panel right to the jeans. If you can’t part with your favorite jeans, then opt for an old pair that still fits.

Clothing from 7 For All Mankind

The 7 For All Mankind maternity jeans (often sold at Pea in a Pod) come in long or tall lengths, though they may need to be ordered through a retail store location. These jeans are hyper stylish, and you won’t want to give them up after your pregnancy.

Finding tall maternity jeans is still difficult, but the range of choice and selection has increased exponentially over the last few years. As maternity clothing has expanded and grown, so have the choices when it comes to size. So, before you despair, try the retailers listed above. You’re likely to find an appealing fitting pair of jeans.

The Perfect Gift For Easter Is A Gift Baskets

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

The two words, “Easter” and “basket” just naturally go to gather. So it is only fitting that Gift Baskets are the perfect way to celebrate Easter. Gift baskets are so lovely to look at that if you receive one for Easter you will probably want to make it your dining table’s centerpiece. If you are invited to someone’s home to celebrate Easter dinner, consider bringing a beautiful Easter gift basket and present it to your hostess.

If you belong to a church, many denominations will celebrate Easter with a sunrise service and an early Easter breakfast. Many times, the meals are potluck, which means that everyone brings a dish to pass. Bring a selection of mini muffins and different types of spreads and jellies and place them in a beautiful basket. This choice will really make a huge impression. Of course, you could always fill a gift basket with beautifully decorated eggs and use it as a gift for someone else or as a decoration for your own get together.

Choose Gift Baskets that will reflect the feeling you are trying to convey. For a gift basket that is more whimsical you may choose a uniquely shaped baskets that is very light and airy. While for a more traditional look, you would probably choose a more traditional style basket and one in a bit of a darker color.

Once you have your basket, it is a matter of knowing whom you are shopping for, what their likes and dislikes are and what types of items you will be placing inside of the basket. Many Easter gift baskets use filler of some sort of such as moss or Easter grass or raffia. Don’t feel that these are your only choices. Many times you can purchase items that go along with your theme and use those as filler. For instance, if you are putting together a gift basket of the spot and relaxation items, you may be able to fill the bottom of the basket with a lovely scent of washcloths or hand towels. For a gift basket of breakfast food items such as mini muffins and small croissants with accompanying jams and jellies, you could use new, cotton dishtowels as your filler.

Decide on a theme for your gift basket and look for items that would go with that theme. Once you have all of your items, arrange them artfully in the basket. Many times, you can find rolls or sheets of cellophane in an arts and crafts store. Use a complementary color of cellophane to wrap your entire basket and add a beautiful ribbon and bow to the top. This is a lovely gift to present to anyone on Easter Sunday.

One of the most thoughtful Easter gift baskets is to fill it with homemade foods from your own kitchen. Whatever you excel at, whether it is homemade cookies, cakes and pies or if you are very good at canning and making preserves, jams and jellies make sure to include these in your Easter gift basket. Some people make their own sausage links or their own salsa or marinades. Whatever it is that you make that people rave about, they will be thrilled to receive a sample of it in a beautiful gift basket.

And then there is the huge category of Easter gift baskets for children. Each gift basket can be specifically geared for each child and can include candy, fresh fruit and snacks, books, jewelry, make-up, small toys, and plush animals. There are so many possibilities when creating an Easter gift basket for a youngster. Don’t limit your imagination, but open it to the possibilities of including anything that is age appropriate and that they would enjoy.

Eastertide is a time of good joy, of new beginnings, of forgiveness and of giving to others. Consider an Easter gift basket of a ham, potatoes, vegetables, rolls, and a yummy fruit pie. Include all of the fixings for a great Easter dinner and give to a family or single mom who could use a little helping hand. If you would like to have the gift remain anonymous, leave the gift basket with a local church or organization that will know of a family who could use it most. This is a wonderful activity to have your children help you to prepare, package and donate. It serves as a wonderful life lesson and helps children to feel thankful for what they have and grateful that they are in a position to help others.

Easter and baskets do go together as does helping and giving. Make sure to include all of these in your next Easter celebration. Use Easter gift baskets to beautify your own home, to thrill your children and to give back to your community and help others in need. This is what a perfect Easter is all about.

Critical Health Care Regimens And Maintenance For Pets

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Regular health care for pets is a crucial part of their ongoing development, health and well-being. Outside regular exercise, a healthy diet and other pet-related products, your pet needs routine health care to ensure it has a long and happy life.

Regular, routine health care should include proper grooming, good dental care, parasite prevention and regular visits to the veterinarian’s office. To learn more, read on.

Ongoing Veterinarian Visits

Adult cats and dogs should have a complete veterinary examination at least once a year. Meanwhile, puppies should visit the veterinarian every 3 to 4 weeks until they’re 4 months old. Senior dogs should see their veterinarian twice a year as illness is more common in older dogs.

Your veterinarian may recommend an ongoing wellness program for your pet, including routine blood work to monitor for problems such as early kidney or liver disease. They will also look for signs of illness, possibly prescribe medication and may administer disease vaccinations.

Prevention of Parasites

Cats and dogs are both susceptible to internal parasites like tapeworm, hookworm, whipworm, and roundworm. Worms will not only cause irreparable damage to the digestive tract, they can leave your pet feeling fatigued and undernourished since they deplete the digestive tract of nutrients.

Typically, worms are either noticed by spotting eggs or worms in the animal’s fecal matter or by having a stool sample tested by your veterinarian.

Heartworm is an especially dangerous parasite for most pets. It is transmitted by mosquito bites and lives in the major blood vessels of the lung, causing inflammation and potentially resulting in heart damage and death. It is painful and devastating - meaning an investment in heartworm prevention medicine is probably the best preventive health care for pets.

Other external parasites include mites, ticks and fleas. These pests cannot only irritate your pet, but also cause infection. So, check your animal regularly for signs of flea bites, and treat for it accordingly.

Dental Care

Cats and dogs need regular dental care to prevent tartar buildup and tooth decay. Typically, dogs require ongoing dental care, like a light, daily tooth brushing. Cats are typically fine with a few dental treats and the occasional vet visit.

You can help keep your dog’s teeth and gums in good condition by brushing their teeth regularly and providing them with certain toys like flossies or dental bones.

Grooming of Hair

Loose or shed hair cannot only mat and cause problems, but it can also be inhaled and lead to digestive issues or hair balls. Keep your pet well groomed to avoid skin irritation, which can also lead to bacterial or parasite infection.

Remember, health care for pets goes beyond treating a disease or health problem once it occurs - it’s also about preventive action and ongoing health maintenance. So, provide your pet with a long and healthy life through ongoing grooming, good dental care, parasite prevention and regular veterinarian visits.
