Princess Leia Adult Costume For Halloween - How To Get The Slave Princess Leia Look
Obviously buying a Halloween costume is the first thought on shopper’s minds this year but in many cases, with a little ingenuity, you could create your own.
A Princess Leia Adult costume is a good challenge and the truth is, the original costume which attracted fans is really a simple piece of clothing which could quite easily be crafted by someone with a little knowledge with a needle and thread. Are you up to it. If not, don’t worry, there is no shortage of Princess Leia Halloween costume selections this year and it’s almost like the famous Star Wars royal has had yet another lease of life with fans.
The original look consisted of a long white gown, long sleeves and boots. But the unmistakable look is achieved through the hairpiece. Remember that. The bun like appearance which probably wouldn’t turn hair stylists on today but it was definitely the hair fashion trend of the future. If you are putting the costume together yourself then just be sure that the fabric is lightweight and flowing.
If you are sewing your own dress, use extra material or white pillowcase for the hood. The dress Leia wore in the film had a high collar, so you could use a white turtleneck shirt under the dress. A pair of white go-go boots will do nicely.
You’ll need the belt to mimic the look she had in the movie, and to keep your dress in place. Ideally, you will use a silver and white belt but if you cannot locate or make one, use a black one. Get creative and use a strip of white material and affix silver jewelry or decorations to it.
For the infamous Princess Leia hair, you may want to get a long-haired wig and style it before you put it on. However, whether you do it with a wig or your real hair, the idea is the same. Part the hair down the middle and twist both sides into tight rolls that look like cinnamon buns. The buns should be on both sides of the head, over the ears, and rather large. Fasten them with plenty of bobby pins and clips.
If you don’t want to go with the traditional Princess Leia Adult costume, you could choose her looks from any of the three films. When she was on Endor with the Ewoks, she dressed very sporty with a vest, pants, and boots. While she was a prisoner of Jabba the Hutt, she wore a metal bikini with long leather flaps in the front and back of the bottom. If you are dressing like Princess Leia this year, go ahead and get creative with your ensemble!
