Queen Of Hearts Halloween Costume - Get A Queen Of Hearts Costume For Nothing
The Queen Of Hearts costume for Halloween may not be the one on most people’s lips this year but from an attention grabbing point-of-view, there will be few to match it. It’s just perfect for the season of ghouls and Goblins.
In fact, there is some variety to consider as well. Her trademark gown which made a huge fashion statement, well in Wonderland anyway and then there is the card costume for those a little more adventurous. The Queen Of Hearts had a mean personality to match her loud costume yet no one would dare make comment about her outfit.
The “off with their heads” cry sent fear through the hearts of her subjects and as a Halloween teaser, she is an ideal choice. If you like the color red then great. The Queen Of Hearts saw red most of the time in Alice In Wonderland but we’re talking costume color.
The accent is on fun and while you may be the loudest person at the party in terms of both vocally and visually, be sure to have fun with it. Let’s look at the two options for a Queen Of Hearts costume for Halloween.
Queen Of Hearts Costume
The skirt of your Queen Of Hearts costume should be red, white, and black – and don’t forget the lace! You’ll need some extra lace and fabric to make the sleeves of the dress puffy with ruffles, as that is the style fit for any queen. You will also want to cut out fabric hearts – at least six – to sew or glue onto the skirt of the dress. If you have enough, you might want to affix some hearts to the bodice (probably four). You cannot forget the hearts.
In order to make your crown, you will need poster board, cardboard, or fun foam. Measure your head and cut the material so that it fits you perfectly. You will then need to cover it in glitter and plenty of hearts, since you are the Queen of Hearts. Make sure that you use the same glitter and materials for the hearts that you affix to your scepter as well.
Making Your Own Card Costume
The other version of the Queen Of Hearts costume is a flat playing card outfit. Sometimes the queen is a card and other times she is a woman; it just depends on which version of Wonderland you like best. The playing card costume is easy to make – all you need is two large pieces of cardboard and a little drawing skill.
Make sure you connect the two pieces of board with heavy red ribbon or string, so that it fits over your head, covering your front and back. Decorate the boards to resemble the Queen of Hearts playing card. Make the scepter and crown as explained above.
You could get a large box from a moving or storage facility and assemble it, cut holes for your head and arms (leave the bottom open) and paint it to look like a card. Or you could cover the back of it with red wrapping paper and cover the front with white wrapping paper. Cut out a “Q” and hearts in red and stick them on the front, then cut out swirls and attach them to the back to make it look like a playing card. Get a deck of playing cards for reference.
