Have you ever wanted to make a steady income off of your online pages but where unaware of how to begin? The key to making cash from what you may already be doing with your web site is affiliate marketing. When was the last time you went to a favorite web site and saw advertising on it? Most likely that was an internet marketing affiliate program hard at work earning both the website owner and the site advertised income. If you are already familiar with what we are talking about, listen up, you will learn a few interesting tidbits that may make the difference from just a few cents earned to a nice paycheck every month.
Affiliate marketing is a practice in which a site rewards an affiliate marketer with a cash compensation for advertising them on the person’s website. This may be completed through third parties who manage several offers and rotate the advertisements on the individual’s page. These third parties are usually called affiliate networks. As opposed to true, one on one affiliate marketing as seen on Amazon.com and Site Build It/Site Sell’ Five Pillar System. Affiliate marketing is simply a way to get paid to promote products.
While this overlaps with some other marketing methods online in today’s market, it is not necessarily new. Affiliate companies also often use other methods, more traditional methods of advertising to drum up business as well. So even early on in the industry, affiliate programs were considered a toy in advertising. Not so with the ever changing market. With the many methods consumers now have to shut out advertising, affiliate marketing is beginning to bring in good game for even major companies.
Say you have a website, you simply sign up for an affiliate offer of your choice, put the code onto your web site and make sure you have great content to draw in readers. Visitors click on those advertisements and you get paid. Sometimes you simply get paid through the click itself, other times a sale actually has to be made. Both are successful since clicking on an ad usually generates small revenue such as a penny or less per click, while a sale results in being paid a percentage of the price of the product.
While it is wise to combine different methods of advertising on a web site for best results, some companies require exclusivity from its affiliate marketers. This is especially true of third party networks. So, be sure to read your agreement and terms and conditions carefully so as not to get banned from participating.
Affiliate marketing has been around for several years, even before the internet. People were rewarded for sending business to a company usually by coupon form name brands to retailers, magazines, and even people on the street. Affiliate marketing is simply another means of networking and getting rewarded. It first got its real start [spin]on the internet|online|on the web|on websites|on web sites[spin] when Amazon launched its banner ad program in 1996. By the year 2000, it was considered a fun means for companies to compensate loyal customers. Today, it is becoming big business.
Being an affiliate you promote. Through product or site reviews, generating sales leads through up selling, and even networking among your peers, you too can cash in on a few extra dollars per month. If you play it right, you may even be able to fire your job.
But don’t expect that to happen anytime soon, unless you’re unemployed and have hours to sit around and think up ways to build it up; building a decent affiliate networking campaign takes months to reach high level organic search results. But if you use your abilities and are good with writing and people, you can expect, through hard work, to make a few hundred per month in a few years.
It takes training to get started in affiliate marketing. You need to first know what works and what doesn’t in order to be successful. If you would like to learn the affiliate secrets needed to be successful in affiliate marketing, you can get the training you need to get started and really be successful with affiliate marketing by visiting The Second Tier’s affiliate blog.

*Note: This list is designed as a resource and contains links to many different kinds of sites, some of which may contain illegal material (piracy etc). I provide this list as reference, and do not encourage or condone specific behaviors regarding illegal material. There are a ton of links to user generated content, independent films, shorts, contests, portals and places to purchase movies. I’m sure you’ll find something you were looking for, use whichever resources you want and be sure to recommend more in the comments. I personally don’t pirate movies, because I LOVE movies and I WANT to support filmmakers (I have Netflix and go out the movies when I can), but I’m happy when films and videos are released legally online for free, when information is shared and I 100% support the open content movement and the motivation / ideals behind the creative commons organization. Enjoy this list. Thanks - Solomon
