Home business and Freelancing: Using web-site

When you first start out with your own home business you will not have to spend a lot of hours on it. You do not even have to do a full time. It also didn’t help that my 3-month old LaCie harddrive died with a lot of important footage on it. I was already making this video when it died and had to start from scratch.

It?s quite another to write copy that fits in with a website. You wouldn?t try to force an incongruous visual element into a carefully considered design. The biggest benefit may not be the exact article title, but it is a good place to start. In those cases, you can create a short biography that will fit at the end of your content. Remember, in most cases, the only place that points back to your Web site or the particular page of the article is the biography section.

3 Low Cost Ways To Meet Agents & Editors

These days it’s common knowledge that it’s hard to meet an agent or an editor through an unsolicited mailing. They are more likely to pay attention to a submission coming from someone they have met in person. To that end, writers flock to conferences so they can get some face time with real live agents and editors. I believe writers should get out and network. But those conferences can be pricey. It’s best to combine attending conferences with a few other strategies that are easier on your wallet. Here are 3 you may find useful.

Attend Author Readings

Make a point of keeping track of writers who do work similar to yours. When they’re in the vicinity go hear them read. Sometimes the author’s agent and editor will be in the audience, this is reading practice. If they aren’t, see if you can steal a few moments with the writer and ask with whom he or she works and whether they have been pleased with the experience. You can either ask for an introduction or contact the people on your own. First develop a rapport with the writer and stay in touch. They may not feel comfortable referring you to their agent or editor right off the bat, but in time as they get to know you and your work, an introduction may be a possibility.

Attend Classes Offered by Continuing Education Groups Such As The Learning Annex

Agents and editors are in the business of looking for the next hot writer. That’s why you’ll often find agents and editors teaching classes related to their work. The courses can cost as little as $30 or $40 and last about three hours so you have some time to find out if the instructor can help you or point you in the direction of someone who can. Welcome to the author world.

Remember the agent or editor probably has aspiring authors handing them manuscripts all the time, so make sure you stand out from the pack. Have a killer query letter and synopsis (if your book is a novel) or book proposal (for non-fiction works) at the ready. You’ll make a great impression simply because you’re not making them lug a 500-page behemoth home in their briefcase!

Look for Agents and Editors Who Have Their Own Personal Websites

When you come across the name of an agent or editor who may be appropriate for you, Google them to see if they have their own websites with email addresses that may be different from their corporate mailboxes. Some are authors themselves (like literary agent Donald Maass, author of Writing the Breakout Novel) and have books of their own to promote. Email them and, again, try to develop a rapport and get a sense of what they’re working on and what they’re looking for. It’s best to know as specifically as possible before going through the trouble of making a submission. I recently heard about a writer who submitted to an agent looking for African American authors, but in fact the agent was looking for African American authors who wrote urban romance - which was not the writer’s genre at all.

One Last Note: These ideas should get you started and I hope they’ll inspire you to try other creative routes. It does get easier because you will find that as you go to more events and tell more people what you’re doing, the more likely you will be to find the connector that will build the path between you and your future agent or editor.

People love e-books and are willing to pay good money for them and strangely, they are not that hard to write! Many people delay writing their own because they don’t know where to star; some useful hints are detailed below. If you are worried about certain aspects of the writing, why not employ someone to carry out some of it for you while you oversee the project.

The subject of your e-book is quite easy to work out if you have an interest in a specific area, why not write some articles and get the feed back on whether people are willing to pay for this information. Why not start by writing a range of articles which will not only help you with your writing practice but they can be used to get interest in the book you are compiling. The articles can then be distributed to the popular article directories which will provide a good indication how successful the book could be by the number of people that read your work.

Good Resume Writing and/or Perfect Resume Writing

Once this is complete you can start writing the content of the e-book and work out how you want it to look. You book should be in three to four sections and will contain an introduction, the main body of the material, a closing chapter and possibly some additional material too. Consider writing several more articles as a bonus because adding this as a bonus will enhance your sales.

Once each article is written, place it into the e-book so you will have a better idea of how long it will be. E-Books are shorter than print books with the optimum length being around 50 pages so stick to the topic, and offer good, useful information. People do not like reading on compute screens so prefer to have shorter books that do not drift from the subject.

As an added extra, why not supply the reader with some bonus material you have located to give added value to your e-book; this is always appreciated. Your bonus material could include a small report (just write two or three additional articles), checklists, or add templates. However, as with all the material you create for your e-Book, ensure that your bonus material is relevant because it should be valuable on its own.

An ebook is made up of e-documents which each make up the pages. It may contain any topics such My Dog, The Famous Architect and so on. It is usually purchased for a low price and is then received immediately. And it is either received through an e-mail or downloaded from the web from a specified link. The electronic book is circulated by publishers, and can be sold in part, in sections or in full. Some publishers provide free samples of them so that readers can familiarize themselves with the format and usability as they are a relatively new concept for the general public. As with any other product, ebooks are subject to electronic copyright and so can not be copied or passed on to other people. Although they are inexpensive to purchase, they offer many advantages to the publishers. Firstly, the production costs are low as there are no storage or printing costs, and immediate receipt through online delivery means lower prices can be maintained. Also, the sales are direct to the reader and so middle men can be skipped. These advantages make the ebook a cost effective purchase for the reader and so an attractive option.
