Internet Shopping: Do Your Homework First

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

has become all the rage in the retail world today. The brick and mortar mall is slowly becoming extinct due to this new revolution. If a person has a computer and access to the , the world of retail can become larger than one could ever imagine. No longer are stores such as Bloomingdale’s and Barney’s off limits to the ordinary person. Anyone can shop online at everything from flea markets to upscale boutiques. However, as wonderful as the experience can be, the pitfalls can cost a consumer more than they bargained for if they are not careful.

One major issue with online shopping is security. To find a secure a person must do research. Not all online shopping sites are reputable. If a store is in question, a quick Google of it can benefit the shopper. One thing to look for when is the padlock device at the bottom of the screen. This padlock lets the shopper know that the site is secure for the consumer to be on. However, one will not see the padlock until the checkout process. A few things to look for before checking out will be if the site has a telephone number and a geographical address. If a store does not have these two things, buyers beware.

Unlike a regular retail environment, an experience keeps an individual from seeing and touching the items for sale. This can cause some consumers to reject doing business with an online vendor. However, websites known as review sites are available for a consumer to investigate not only the quality of products but also the validity of the website. One review site that offers reviews on everything from daycare to real estate is www.ratingparadise.com.

Something that an online shopper may fail to fully understand when purchasing goods online is the return or exchange policy that an site offers. The time frame that a product can be returned or exchanged varies. Another thing that a shopper more than likely does not pay attention to is that if an item is returned or exchanged a consumer may be responsible for the shipping charges. QVC will gladly accept returns for up to thirty days; however, shipping charges will not be refunded. In other words, if a customer pays $60 for an item and it costs $15 to return it; in reality they have lost $15. These are very important things that a consumer must be aware of before online.

No matter whether a person is online shopping or going to their local big box retailer, pitfalls of abound everywhere. When online, issues such as security and product quality plague customers. However, if a little research is previously done, a person can avoid extra charges and merchandise that they will be unhappy with. can be a great experience if one just pays attention to the fine print.

How To Buy Magic Tricks

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

First I have to kill two myths about magic shops; For some mysterious reason some laypeople believe that only magicians can buy

1. You can buy any magic trick you want
Sure, you can buy any imaginable - if you’ve got the money. So if you want to saw a woman in half - no problem. Any magic shop can sell you the boxes or drawings. This is because all magic shops live by the motto: Show me the money!

2. You don’t have to be a magician to buy

You don’t have to be a magician to buy . You can just walk right into a magic shop and start buying whatever you want. How do you think people became magicians in the first place?
Sometimes you pay hundreds of dollars and all you get is a simple explanation and strange looking gimmick. Often there is a huge difference between what you think you get and what you get. You may be disappointed…

If you are a beginner in magic you might feel like you’ve been cheated, but often you haven’t. What you pay for is the idea and the secret.

Personally, I’m satisfied if I just get one tiny idea from a DVD or one new magic trick from a whole magic convention. That’s enough for me. But I’m also a pro.

This is how you find your local magic shop:
Nearly all large cities have their own magic shop. If you want to find your local magic shop, you can always look it up in the yellow pages or on the .

In a magic shop you get the chance to see, try and feel the magic trick. Often the owner will demonstrate the magic trick and if you purchase it - he will often teach you the trick.
I think it is important to find your own magic dealer. In time this will save you a fortune. Because you and your own magic dealer know if the latest hot magic trick really is something for you.
